Embodied AI Research Team Participates in ICRA 2026
Members of the Embodied AI Research Team at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) participated in the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2026, held in Vienna, Austria.
The conference was attended by Yukiyasu Domae, Ryo Hanai, Floris Erich, Roman Mykhailyshyn, Oh Hanbit, and Tessa Pulli. During the conference, the team engaged in discussions with researchers from academia and industry, exchanged ideas on recent developments in robotics and automation, and strengthened international research connections.
We present our recent work, “Soft Vortex Gripper for Dexterous Manipulation Using Hand-Like Robots,” was conducted in collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin and Texas Robotics. The presentation received valuable feedback from colleagues in the robotics community.
The team also participated in the differentWorkshops, which provided an opportunity to discuss current challenges and future directions in robot learning, dexterous manipulation, tactile interaction, and haptics.
Overall, ICRA 2026 was a productive opportunity for presenting research, exchanging ideas, and strengthening collaborations within the international robotics community.
